Winds of Change screen print for the Travel By Screen series hosted by Sally Centigrade Gallery where a screen printed poster is made for a popular area code in each state. I live in the 641 area code which is mostly rural Iowa countryside with small-to-medium sized towns sprinkled throughout.
Winds of Change depicts a tired, old Studebaker truck that's been "put out to pasture" juxtaposed with a wind farm — an increasingly common sight in rural Iowa. The state bird, a Goldfinch, is perched on the hood ornament surveying the area. The scene is intended to pay tribute to the old fossil-fuel workhorse while welcoming the transition to new forms of clean energy that will help sustain our planet.
